Sing, Spell, Read & Write uses phonics songs, interactive charts, and games to teach the alphabetic principle, phonemic awareness, sound/letter correspondence, short vowel sounds, and blending – in a fun and meaningful way.

Read It Once Again

Read It Once Again provides a comprehensive curriculum that promotes and establishes an early literacy-based foundation for the development of basic skills. It also provides the educator with student goals and objectives based on developmental milestones with structure and rationale. The curriculum engages the parent/guardian in the instructional process and fosters communication between home and school.

Leveled Literacy Intervention

Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) is a small-group, supplementary intervention designed for students who find reading and writing difficult. These students are the lowest achievers in literacy at their grade level and are not receiving another literacy intervention. The goal of LLI is to give a sense of confidence in these students and empower teachers to help them become proficient readers.

SRA Horizons and Corrective Reading

Laurens School District 56 utilizes SRA Horizons and Corrective Reading as a tertiary level of intervention in kindergarten through high school. This direct instruction reading intervention program promotes the structure and practice necessary for students to become skilled, fluent readers and better learners.

Direct Instruction is a researched based methodology which consists of the following components: *Scripted lessons with clear concise expectations *Fast paced with several different skills/segments in each lesson *Immediate student feedback through structured correction procedures and constant student monitoring *Signaled group responses plus individual responses *Instruction is teacher directed, student interaction is consistent and intense *Structured sequence of skill development moving in small increments with much review and practice *Mastery based learning evaluated by specific regular testing, everything taught to mastery *Desired behaviors specifically taught and reinforced

Do The Math is a hands-on, manipulative based program to help build math skills. SAXON Math

A comprehensive direct instruction kindergarten through twelfth grade math curriculum designed for students needing secondary or tertiary intervention in math.

Instructional components include: *Distributed practice - practice and instruction for any single math content strand occurs across the course of the entire instructional year *Student skill assessment after every fifth lesson with planned remediation if necessary *Adaptations provide for differentiation of instruction through the use of paraphrasing, repetition and routines, demonstrations, use of visuals, concrete models, hands on activities through manipulatives, and collaborative student learning
